Strain Systems now serves silo farms with the same high-performance, nonintrusive, integrated, continuous weight-measurement we have provided to customers with single silos. We built our name by achieving accuracies better than 1% of full scale on single silos supported by legged structures with our SOLO™-W Silo Scale. Now with our ENSEMBLE™-W Silo Scale we bring the same measurement accuracy to plants with up to four silos monitored on a single screen.
ENSEMBLE-W and SOLO-W are based on Strain Systems’ unique, patented StrainCell™ technology, which measures the change in strain on a silo caused by weight changes and converts the strain readings to reliable, repeatable, and accurate weight readings via intelligent electronics and software. StrainCell sensors produce temperature-compensated strain readings that are the most sensitive in the market. Depending on the application and the performance level required, multiple sensors may be incorporated into a silo scale solution with the following performance results:
At these performance levels, SOLO and ENSEMBLE set a new performance standard turning silos to scales™.
SOLO and ENSEMBLE silo scales are easy to install, calibrate, and operate. Installed on the outside of the silo, these systems are unaffected by material density, angle of repose, wave reflection, dust clouds, and other issues common to other weight and level measurement technologies. Functionality can be accessed locally via the front panel of the intelligent electronics, or integrated into a computer network system to communicate with any Ethernet-capable device. Alarm messages, emails, and control of other equipment can be triggered as necessary via intelligent software embedded in SOLO and ENSEMBLE. In addition to the Ethernet interface, optional RS-232/485, USB, 0 to 20 mA, and 0 to 10 V analog outputs are available.
For 24/7 inventory monitoring, the ENSEMBLE display can be installed anywhere in the world, either at a fixed location or on a moving platform. Each ENSEMBLE display monitors inventory of up to four silos, and additional displays can be used where there are more than four silos on-site. Multiple displays at different locations can monitor the same set of silos, and multiple ENSEMBLE-W systems provide for scaling inventory monitoring for an unlimited number of silos.
Though we currently emphasize leg-supported silos, our SOLO and ENSEMBLE systems are also available for certain types of cylindrical skirted silos with better than 3% accuracy.
